"Nordic Aqua Partners' Chinese RAS Salmon Farm Prepares for First Commercial Harvest"
Nordic Aqua Partners, headquartered in Norway, announces significant progress in its Chinese RAS salmon farm, situated on Gaotang Island off the country's eastern coast. According to the company's latest quarterly report, a test harvest conducted in mid-February yielded salmon of exceptional quality, averaging 5 kg in live weight. With mortality rates below 1.6 percent and no signs of maturation, the farm demonstrates strong fish health and welfare.
The construction works for the farm's first phase, with a capacity of 4,000 tonnes, have been completed on schedule and within budget. CEO Ragnar Joensen expresses confidence in the project's trajectory, emphasizing the company's continued growth and strengthened liquidity following a successful private placement. Nordic Aqua Partners is primed for its inaugural harvest at the end of the next quarter.
Equity funding for the farm's second phase, doubling capacity to 8,000 tonnes, has been secured, with plans for debt funding currently under evaluation. Additionally, preparations for the third phase, aiming for a capacity of 20,000 tonnes, are underway, with a final decision expected in the third quarter of 2024.
Looking ahead, Nordic Aqua Partners anticipates completing hatchery operations and start feeding by April 2024, with the first egg inlay scheduled for the third quarter of the same year. The first harvest from the second phase is projected for the third quarter of 2026, with production gradually increasing to reach full-scale harvest by the second quarter of 2024, targeting a monthly volume of approximately 350 tonnes. The company expects a total production of 3,400 tonnes in 2024.
