Wynter Courmont, Vice President of Seafood at Diversified Communications USA, emphasized the event's significance to the global seafood industry, highlighting its role in achieving annual business objectives.
With an estimated local economic impact surpassing EUR 156 million (USD 167 million), this year's expo expanded to Hall 1 of the Fira Barcelona Gran Via Venue for the first time, encompassing halls 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and the Galleria. The event attracted exhibitors from 87 countries, including newcomers like Azerbaijan, Brazil, and the Czech Republic, along with various regional pavilions.
The expo served as a platform for industry networking and product launches, as expressed by John Knorr, Senior Vice President and COO of Phillips Seafoods. Notable additions to the exhibitor lineup included companies like CPF Culinar, Regal Springs AG, and Australian Trade and Investment Commission.
Highlights of the event included the Seafood Excellence Global Awards, recognizing innovations such as Parcs Saint Kerber's Oysters Trio and Algolesko's Wakame Pickles. Additionally, the expo hosted its inaugural Connecting Women in Seafood reception, promoting inclusivity and networking opportunities within the industry.
Partnering with the Banc dels Aliments for the third consecutive year, the expo facilitated the collection of donated seafood products for a local food bank. Looking ahead, the next Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Processing Global is scheduled for May 6 to 8, 2025, at Fira de Barcelona's Gran Vía venue.
