The Omarsa Group ventured into the shrimp industry in February 1977 when Don Arturo Vanoni Fernandez acquired the initial 250 hectares of land on Chupadores Grande Island in Ecuador for shrimp farming. The Processing Plant, established in 1982 under the name "Cachugran," aimed to integrate shrimp production with commercial activities, facilitating the global marketing of farmed shrimp. Over four decades, and overcoming challenges such as the white spot crisis (1999-2001), Omarsa remains an integrated company with two hatcheries, three shrimp farms covering approximately 4,400 hectares, and two processing plants.
Maintaining a commitment to strict quality control and environmental preservation principles, Omarsa has achieved elevated standards, ensuring the production of top-quality, sustainable shrimp. Over the past 45 years, the company's dedication to providing premium sustainable products has propelled it to become one of Ecuador's top 2 shrimp exporters. Omarsa successfully processes shrimp in various forms, including head-on, head-less, and value-added products.
