Scheduled for October 16th to 17th, 2024, the eagerly anticipated "Smolt Production of the Future" conference is poised to facilitate an invaluable exchange of insights among industry experts and aquaculture researchers. Organized by Nofima and Sunndal Næringsselskap, the conference caters to individuals with a vested interest in smolt and post-smolt production, whether within land-based closed facilities or at sea.
Trine Ytrestøyl, a prominent Nofima researcher and event organizer, emphasized the significance of advancements in smolt production and the increasing implementation of industry solutions since the previous conference. With the support of Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries, Ytrestøyl anticipates a highly productive gathering at Sunndalsøra, Norway.
Renowned for attracting up to 300 industry participants per event since its inception in 2008, this year's conference promises to delve into pivotal themes such as large smolt production, smolt quality, fish health, water quality, and advancements in Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS). Attendees can also anticipate engaging panel discussions and an optional tour of Nofima's Sunndalsøra RAS facility.
Ytrestøyl underscores the critical role of high-quality smolt in addressing challenges associated with fish welfare and mortality in the sea, highlighting the significance of ongoing advancements in this domain.
