JALA, an aquaculture technology company specializing in shrimp farming solutions in Indonesia, hosted the Shrimp Outlook 2024 event in Surabaya on Thursday, March 7th. Attended by 339 participants representing various sectors of the Indonesian shrimp industry, including shrimp farmers, processing companies, and fry and feed producers, the event focused on evaluating Indonesia's recent shrimp cultivation performance and strategizing for enhanced productivity in the upcoming year.
During the main session, Liris Maduningtyas, co-founder and CEO of JALA, conducted a comprehensive assessment of Indonesia's shrimp industry performance in 2023 and provided insights for productivity improvement in 2024. Maduningtyas recommended that shrimp farmers aim for better profitability by adjusting cultivation durations to 70-80 days or 100-110 days, emphasizing the importance of strengthening local market absorption to stabilize shrimp prices amidst volatile export markets.
The event featured panel discussions exploring various aspects of shrimp farming. The first session, "The Next Level of Farm Financing," addressed the significance of data recording and financial reporting for farmers seeking bank or equity funding. The subsequent panel discussions delved into challenges such as the fluctuating global shrimp market and issues in shrimp fry production, offering insights and solutions to industry participants.
Additionally, the event marked the launch of the JALA App, a shrimp farm management software platform designed to facilitate data-driven decision-making and pond management for farmers.
Shrimp Outlook 2024, the second annual event organized by JALA, provided a platform for stakeholders to review Indonesia's shrimp farming performance, exchange knowledge, and plan strategies for the future.
