"Muradiye Kiyak Launches Kiyak Su Urunleri, Expanding Seafood Market in Turkey and Abroad"
Muradiye Kiyak, CEO of Murfish, has recently initiated Kiyak Su Urunleri, a Turkish seafood importing enterprise dedicated to sourcing seafood domestically and internationally, aiming to enrich Turkey's seafood offerings.
Speaking at the 2024 Seafood Expo Global in Barcelona, Spain, Kiyak expressed, "For Kiyak Su Urunleri, I procure seafood from various regions across Turkey. Additionally, we engage in trade with Russia, Georgia, Japan, China, and Vietnam."
Established in 2021, Murfish, headquartered in Samsun, Turkey, operates both wild-caught and aquaculture facilities in the Black Sea. With a focus on sustainability, the aquaculture arm produces approximately 2,000 metric tons of sea bass, sea bream, salmon, and trout annually in near-shore net pens. Kiyak highlighted Murfish's vertical integration, encompassing fishmeal and fish oil production, distribution, and local market presence.
Kiyak Su Urunleri and Murfish collaborate on initiatives such as promoting Turkish Black Sea salmon, renowned for its sustainability and distinctive flavor, to international markets.
Kiyak's academic background in English language and literature, coupled with her tenure as a professor at Ondokuz Mayis University in Samsun and her Ph.D. in comparative literature from the University of Kent, precedes her venture into the seafood industry.
Asserting her determination, Kiyak stated, "I don't like the word impossible." Despite being a newcomer, Murfish has achieved annual sales ranging from USD 3 million (EUR 2.8 million) to USD 5 million (EUR 4.6 million). Kiyak seeks global partnerships at the 2024 Seafood Expo Global to further enhance her enterprises.
