Situated in the strategic hub of Vigo, home to a key logistical port, our headquarters positions us advantageously for business development and forging new partnerships.
With over 500 employees, spanning both land-based and on-board roles, Pescapuerta operates seamlessly through specialized departments, offering essential services to its diverse portfolio of affiliated companies.
HISTORY
Over 50 years of leadership in the frozen food sector:
  • 1956: Founder Don José Puerta Oviedo enters the fishing industry as a vessel owner.
  • 1964: Launch of the company's first multi-purpose vessel, the "Ramsés."
  • 1970-1980: Transition to freezer trawlers, expanding operations internationally.
  • 1977: Introduction of the first freezer trawler, "Pescavigo Uno."
  • 1986: Launch of "Nuevo Alcocero," one of Europe's largest freezer trawlers.
  • 1990-2000: International expansion with EU support and increased joint ventures.
  • 2006: Jose Puerta Prado appointed Chairman of Pescapuerta Group.
  • 2011: Pescapuerta becomes a shareholder of Frigoríficos de Oya (Frialia).
  • 2014: Creation of Fortitude Fishing for Cape hake marketing.
  • 2015: Transfer of central offices to Vigo's central street.
  • 2016-2017: Expansion with Loligo Seafood, Pescapuerta Trade, and participation in Fishing Accelerator, connecting technology and industry expertise.
