Kyokuyo, the Tokyo-listed seafood company, has acquired a majority stake in Northseafood Holland, a Dutch seafood processing firm. This strategic move is part of Kyokuyo's broader strategy to expand its overseas processing capabilities. Established in 1937 and backed by a robust network of Japanese affiliates, including multiple seafood processing entities, Kyokuyo is now focusing on international markets.
Following the transaction, Northseafood Holland will operate under the umbrella of Kyokuyo Europe. This acquisition follows Kyokuyo's earlier majority stake purchase in Turkey's Kocaman Fisheries Export and Import Trade in January.
Through its new Dutch subsidiary's facility, Kyokuyo will engage in the European seafood industry, encompassing fishing, processing, and packaging of fresh seafood for retail and foodservice sectors. Northseafood Holland will continue catering to private-label clients and maintaining its Deliz brand, offering value-added products like breaded fish.
