Crafted from pea protein, this innovative plant-based smoked salmon aims to replicate the appearance, flavor, and texture of wild salmon. The product, available in two distinct flavors – smokey style and dill and lemon – features an orange-red hue, marking a significant advancement in plant-based seafood alternatives.
Revo Foods, headquartered in Vienna, Austria, unveils its latest plant-based innovation, SMOKEY SLICES, as an alternative to wild salmon. With upgraded nutritional value, including high omega-3 fatty acid content, CEO Robin Simsa emphasizes its potential to reduce the environmental impact of current fishing practices. Alongside SMOKEY SLICES, Revo Foods introduces THE KRAKEN, an octopus analog made from fungi-protein, aligning with their mission to offer sustainable alternatives that mimic the taste, texture, and nutritional benefits of seafood.
In Chicago, Illinois, AQUA Cultured Foods makes its restaurant debut at Bambola, showcasing its tuna, scallops, and minced shrimp analogs in a seven-course meal crafted by Chef Marcos Campos. Co-Founder Brittany Chibe expresses pride in this milestone, highlighting AQUA's goal to expand to at least 10 restaurants in the Chicago area. AQUA's innovative process involves pasteurizing cellulose and adding flavor and color systems to replicate the appearance and taste of seafood.
Meanwhile, Rehovot, Israel-based Steakholder Foods announces its upcoming conference call to discuss its fiscal year 2023 financial results. The company showcases advancements in technology and market presence, alongside the launch of its SHMeat and SHFish products, expanding its analog offerings to include 3D-printed beef, chicken, and salmon.
In the United States, The Plant-Based Seafood Co., headquartered in Gwynn’s Island, Virginia, relaunches its Happy Crabby Sandwich at PLNT Burger locations across several states. CEO Monica Talbert underscores the sandwich's popularity and its return coinciding with World Ocean Month, demonstrating the company's commitment to sustainability and culinary innovation.
