The Norwegian seafood company Mathias Bjørge has announced the addition of Norwegian salmon to its product lineup, coinciding with the construction of a new processing facility on Ellingsøya, Ålesund.
Strategically located on Norway’s west coast, the factory is slated for completion and operation by autumn 2025, creating up to 30 new jobs.
“We look forward to opening the new factory and further strengthening Norwegian salmon internationally,” said Torgeir Bjørge, managing director, in a press release.
Alongside this project, Mathias Bjørge has appointed Lars Magne Haram as the new chief executive of its subsidiary, which will lead the salmon venture. Haram brings extensive industry experience, including roles with the Norwegian Food Safety Authority and seafood giant Hofseth, positioning him well to lead the new initiative.
“We are going to create something entirely new and ensure even more job opportunities in our region. I'm happy and honored to be a part of this from the beginning,” Haram stated.
